Waterside Country Barn Wedding — Somerset

Waterside Country Barn is an exclusive-use wedding venue on private farmland near Bradford-on-Tone, tucked between the Quantock and Blackdown Hills in Somerset. It pairs a rustic wooden barn with a lakeside terrace, sweeping countryside views and on-site glamping for guests.

Photographing beside the water here is a treat — the lake gives me reflections and a calm, open horizon that you don’t get at most barns. With the hills wrapping around the site, I can keep the day feeling private and unhurried while still capturing those wide, panoramic Somerset views.

What makes Waterside Country Barn work for photography

The lakeside terrace is my favourite spot here, especially in the evening when the light catches the water and the whole valley softens. For portraits I’ll often walk couples down towards the lake or out into the fields, where there’s room and nothing to compete with the scenery.

Inside, the wooden barn has a warm, natural feel that’s lovely for candid moments during dining and dancing. Because the venue is yours for the day, the celebration unfolds naturally across the terrace, barn and grounds, which suits the relaxed, story-led way I like to shoot.
