Old Oak Farm Wedding — Somerset

Old Oak Farm sits in the open countryside near Curry Rivel, between Taunton and Yeovil in the heart of Somerset. It’s a hand-built barn venue set across several acres of grounds, with a reclaimed-timber wedding barn, a stable bar, a secret garden and a little licensed folly for ceremonies.

I love photographing here because the whole place feels made by hand, and that warmth comes through in pictures. Couples spread out across the grounds through the day, so I can move from a folly ceremony to drinks by the pizza oven to golden-hour portraits in the fields without ever rushing anyone.

Why Old Oak Farm is a joy to photograph

The reclaimed wood inside the barn gives me beautiful, soft tones to work with, and the big doors pull plenty of daylight inside for the ceremony and speeches. Because the venue is built from natural, weathered materials, backdrops are forgiving everywhere I point the camera.

Outside, the gardens and surrounding fields give me space for relaxed group shots and quiet couple portraits as the light drops. It’s a venue that rewards a documentary approach: lots of corners to wander, a festival feel, and an easy flow from one part of the day to the next.
